Diljit Dosanjh Changes Song Lyrics After Govt Notice: “Some People Can’t Handle Big Shows”

Punjabi superstar Diljit Dosanjh performed modified versions of his hit songs Lemonade and 5 Taara during the Hyderabad leg of his Dil-Luminati India Tour 2024 on Saturday. The changes came after the Telangana government issued a notice instructing him not to sing songs promoting alcohol, drugs, or violence at the concert.

Videos from the event have surfaced online, showing the singer-actor replacing the original line “Tainu teri daaru ch pasand aa Lemonade” from Lemonade with “Tainu teri coke ch pasand aa Lemonade.”

Similarly, Diljit altered the lyrics of his hit song 5 Taara, replacing “5 taara theke utte” with “5 taara hotel ch.”

During the Hyderabad concert, the singer addressed the audience, referencing the government notice that also prohibited the use of children on stage.

“If an artist comes from outside the country, they can sing or do whatever they want, no problem. But when your own artist comes home to perform, you create trouble. Let me tell you something—God is with me, and I won’t let this slide,” Diljit said.

The 40-year-old also called out critics questioning the success of his shows, which have been selling out in minutes.

“Many people can’t digest how these big shows are happening or how tickets are selling out in two minutes. Bro, I’ve been working for years. I didn’t become famous overnight,” he remarked.

Diljit further addressed the issue of black market ticket sales, urging fans to report incidents to the authorities via the cybercrime helpline at 1930.

“Some people buy tickets early just to resell them. This is common, even in big international shows. The government is working to address this, and it will improve over time,” he said.

Diljit’s next performance is scheduled for Ahmedabad on Sunday.
